    Claude fills these in from step 1. Every change here updates the data straight away.

    The question the data has to answer. It decides which columns are ticked.

    What one line in the file stands for: one item, one item each month or week, or one customer order line.

    How many different products the company sells.

    How many weeks of history the file covers.

    Supplier lead time, days

    Each item gets a lead time between the two.

    How much sales jump around from one month to the next.

    When in the year sales peak.

    How many weeks of sales the company keeps on the shelf, on average.

    How often an order is filled from stock without running short. 95% means 1 order in 20 runs short.

    Unit cost, in US dollars (USD)

    What the company pays its suppliers for one unit. Each item gets a cost between the two.

    The supplier names used in the data. Separate them with commas.

    Where the stock is kept. Separate them with commas.

    Product groups and example items, one group per line, like this: Group: item, item.

    The columns in the file. Untick what you do not need.

    Leave on Clean for tidy data. Pick a level to add realistic errors (blank cells, duplicate rows, wrong dates). An error list is then added to your download.

    The data is made up at random. This number picks which random set you get: the same number always gives exactly the same data, so a colleague can test on the same set as you. Click the button for a fresh set.
